Deciding to board your horse is a big step, and choosing the right barn matters. If this is your first time boarding — or your first time at River Creek — here is what you can expect from the moment you reach out to the day your horse settles into the barn.
Start with a tour
Before anything else, come see the place. We will walk you through the stalls, the 100x200 outdoor arena, the round pen, the turnout paddocks, and the trails. You will meet the people who will be caring for your horse and get a feel for the barn community. Bring your questions — there are no wrong ones.
Choosing your board option
We offer full board, pasture board, self-care, retirement, and short-term boarding. The right choice depends on your horse’s needs and how hands-on you want to be. Full board is the most popular for first-timers because we handle the daily feeding, turnout, stall cleaning, and blanketing. We are happy to help you pick the plan that fits.
Moving in
Before your horse arrives, we will need a current Coggins and proof of vaccinations, along with your vet and farrier contacts and any feeding or medication instructions. On move-in day, plan to spend a little time getting your horse comfortable — showing them their stall, their turnout, and the wash area. Most horses settle within a day or two.
Staying in the loop
Once your horse is in, you get access to our owner portal. We post daily care logs and photos so you can check in any time, from anywhere. You will see when your horse was fed, turned out, and cared for, plus reminders for vaccinations and farrier visits. It is the next best thing to being at the barn yourself.
